We exhibited at the 2022 ISM Annual Conference & Expo, meeting procurement leaders focused on resiliency, diversity, and digital sourcing.

Conversations reinforced demand for modular platforms that deliver ROI per module while keeping a single supplier record underneath.

What attendees asked about

Most booth conversations centered on three themes. Supply disruption from the prior two years had pushed resiliency to the top of the procurement agenda, and teams wanted to know how to spot single-source risk before it caused a stockout. Supplier diversity programs were shifting from a compliance report to a sourcing input, so buyers asked how diverse suppliers get discovered and qualified alongside incumbent vendors. Digital sourcing tools were multiplying, and procurement leaders wanted fewer logins, not more.

Why modular, not monolithic

The recurring objection to large suite purchases was simple: teams pay for modules they never turn on. A modular platform lets a team start with one function, such as supplier risk screening or RFx, prove ROI on that module alone, then add the next module only when it earns its own budget line. The condition that makes this work is a single supplier record shared across every module. Without it, each new module becomes its own silo, and the team is back to reconciling supplier data by hand across systems.

The takeaway

The event confirmed that procurement teams are not asking for more software. They are asking for software that starts small, proves value fast, and shares one source of truth for supplier data as it grows.
